Villa Arnica: Peace in the Vines

Wrap-around vineyards ensconce Villa Arnica, a stunning yet intimate retreat set in picturesque gardens in the center of Lana, a small town in South Tyrol. Visit this vintage jewel in the mountains to discover the luxury of slow living.

Built in 1925 as an intimate guest house, Villa Arnica still retains its unique vintage charm and spirit, nourished and preserved by artists, actors and creatives who flocked here from all over Europe. Klaus Dissertori and his family decided to evoke the same sparkling atmosphere bringing together a glimpse of the Mediterranean Dolce Vita with the nostalgia of past grandeur.

Surrounded by the mountains of South Tyrol, yet nestled in the characteristic town of Lana, the Villa transports the guest into a bygone era, where to enjoy the pleasure of calm in a peaceful haven. The family imbued this charming retreat with a sense of history, heritage and design, to create a unique atmosphere where you can let yourself be carried away by the sweet crackling sound of a vintage record player, warmed by the fireplace.

From the impressive cross vault ceilings to the tiniest details, most of the building’s original features have been preserved, to recall a strong sense of history and elegance. Herringbone wood floors were refurbished, the precious original materials were completely restored, and the antique sofas reupholstered. The final result is a magical place, where you can relax and rewind surrounded by handpicked design pieces and eccentric décor.

The original furniture is matched to antique market finds, delicate floral wallpapers and contemporary design curiosities to give life to a modern hotel in a century-old Villa characterized by old-fashioned values.

The interior space recalls and remembers the surrounding nature, featuring a choice of muted colors such as sage, mustard and terracotta. The windows open the space to views of vineyards, apple trees and palm trees, an excellent addition to this city retreat. The expansive garden is the perfect spot for spending the day with a book from the library and mastering the art of doing nothing in an intimate environment.

The guest should come away with a familiar feeling, as if they have spent time at a friend’s villa.

The original view of the first owner of Villa Arnica was to create a house with a genuine sensibility, a place where the visitor can feel at home. The same spirit was the starting point of the current owners, combining respect for the past with a modern vision.

Also the local cuisine reflects the same principles: the natural environment around the villa supports a strong agricultural tradition. Depending on the season is possible to taste local dishes realized with homemade ingredients keeping faith with the garden-to-table philosophy.
