Toscana Earth Table Vase #1

Using his own blend of high-temperature stoneware clays, Davies has created this extraordinary vase, whose distinctive texture is obtained by firing the wet hand-turned piece twice in the kiln, the second time at very high temperature in an oxygen-reduction atmosphere to remove the impurities from the surface creating splits and cracks on the earth-colored exterior. Finished inside with gray ash glaze, this is a one-of-a-kind piece.
