ELLE DECOR partners with A-List designers John and Christine Gachot to redesign the Met Opera House Patrons Lounge Lounge. The refreshed space features a selection of Artemest decorative pieces carefully picked by the designers to match the iconic style of Metropolitan Opera and welcome Met patrons and donors, artist, VIPs and more.

The VIP lounge, spanning 1,500 square feet, was originally crafted by renowned New York interior designer Billy Baldwin and has since become an iconic space. Situated on the Mercedes T. Bass Grand Tier of the opera house, the lounge boasts striking floor-to-ceiling windows, soaring ceilings, and a centrally positioned bar. GACHOT's updated furniture arrangement pays homage to Baldwin's meticulous design, featuring four distinct lounge seating areas.

The new project revolves around the idea of a sophisticated yet warm and welcoming interior, drawing inspiration from the carefully documented lounge’s history and reinterpreting the glory of the Opera House. The lounge’s color palette is composed by blush, red and camel nuances, complementing the gold and travertine details of the main lobby with its iconic staircase.

Artemest’s artisans contributed to this project with a one-of-a-kind selection of pieces characterized by a unique precious allure: from golden accessories by Mason Editions, Ghirò Studio, Ghidini 1961 and Giobagnara, to artistic glass vases by Venini and VGnewtrend, refined lamps by Renzo Serafini and mirrors by Spini Firenze and Bronzetto. The Metropolitan Opera is the perfect setting for these pieces, representing the excellence of Italian artistic heritage and the distinctive charm of craftsmanship.

The refurbishment of the Patrons Lounge by GACHOT stands as a testament to the power of great design, where tradition meets modernity, and luxury is woven into every corner. The subtle nod to Baldwin’s legacy ensures that the space remains as inviting and functional as ever, while receiving a unique modern upgrade.
