As essential in its shape as it is artful in its manufacturing, this dome-shaped ceramic vase - also suitable as a simple sculpture - is handcrafted following the ancient Japanese raku method. Unglazed for a soft raw finish, the ultra-thin gray traceries adorning its exterior result from a special smoking technique employing horsehair. This piece was entirely designed and crafted by Nino Basso. Care suggestions are included in the delivery box.

Design Center 1991
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy | Accessories Maker
Design Center’s first prototypes by Nino Basso made their debut at the end of the 1980s: home and office accessories defined by formal simplicity and elegant craftsmanship. Already art director of an international fashion brand, Basso established a small artisan firm in Spilimbergo, a town between Venice and Trieste. In 1991, his niece, graphic designer and photographer Cristina Colonnello, joined the brand, expanding to interior furnishings and industrial designs. Basso continues creating numbered series and single pieces that lie at the intersection of art and design.Discover more
