Festina Lente

Accessories Maker - Lombardia, Italy

Festina Lente is a Latin motto that means Make haste slowly. With this motto in mind, in 2017 Marta founded the brand of eco-luxury home fragrances Festina Lente. She creates each fragrance and makes each product by hand in small batches in her atelier in Milan, using vegan, cruelty-free ingredients with precious, phthalate-free scents and sustainable, locally made packaging. The logo is based on a series of gold coins minted for emperor Augustus in ancient Rome with the image of the prudent crab and the ambitious butterfly. This reflects in the brand's mantra: have a purpose but savor every moment. Each scent tells a story, conjuring up another place, another time, another season.

Festina Lente means, Make Haste Slowly. Have a purpose, but don’t rush. Be patient and fly high. Savor every moment. Make things happen and enjoy them

Marta founded Festina Lente in 2017 in New York, where she lived for almost 20 years. When she moved back to Italy in 2019, she opened her atelier/shop in the heart of the artisans’ district of Isola, in Milan. Her team is made entirely of women inspired by the beauty and the priceless tradition of Italian craftsmanship.

They called their products eco-luxury. This is why:

Their lab is powered by 100% renewable energy. Their products are vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic (don’t contain cancerogenic ingredients and are phthalates-free). Their packaging is completelyrecyclable and plastic-free.

Their perfumes are conceived in collaboration with one of the best “noses” in Italy. These sophisticated accords tell distinct and complex stories, creating a unique olfactory experience.

Their candles are poured by hand in their atelier using natural soy wax and braided cotton wicks with no added metals.

Their 100 ml diffusers are unique on the market because they don’t contain alcohol. Because of that, they are not flammable and last longer. The reeds are 100% vegetable fiber and are thicker than the common ones for excellent scent delivery.

Their name is a Latin motto that means, Make Haste Slowly. Their symbol is inspired by a series of gold coins minted in ancient Rome under Emperor Augustus to explain this paradox: the crab relies on the wings of the butterfly to fly; the butterfly needs the tenacity of the crab so as not to get into trouble.
