Palazzo Margherita, built in 1892 in Bernalda by the Margherita family, is a true 19th century palazzo. The town was the birthplace and home to Agostino Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola's grandfather, who always referred to it affectionately as "Bernalda bella". Francis purchased the Palazzo in 2004 with the desire to transform it into a small, luxurious Italian boutique hotel, believing it was time to introduce visitors to the stunning and still undiscovered region of Basilicata.
Wedged in a small gap between the tip and the heel of Italy, Basilicata region represent a real heaven made of green lands and fascinating seashores. Here stands proud Palazzo Margherita, surrounded by the thriving local nature where sumptuous fruits and vegetables are produced, as well as the famous Aglianico grapes.
Once a humble retreat for fishermen, today Splendido Mare is a charming guest house characterized by a nautical signature style, reminiscent of its glorious past and its location overlooking the beautiful sea of Italian Riviera. As the first inn of Portofino, the building was called ‘Nazionale’ and was established by Silvio Gazzolo, an elderly retired fisherman. Visitors arrived here in horse-drawn postal carriages, stopping to enjoy delicious hot meals and a comfortable bed. The same family looked after the building for four generations, giving it its current appearance.
Stepping into this wonderful location it is impossible not to remain enchanted by the timeless charm of Portofino you can breathe inside. Accomplices of these feelings are the hidden terraces that capture the spirit of the harbor giving the guest a kaleidoscopic view of Riviera Ligure.
Corte della Maestà is located in the small hamlet of Civita di Bagnoregio, a magical and timeless place, far from the hustle of the city, surrounded by the characteristic “calanchi”, clusters of clay that make the valley and its landscapes truly unique. The ancient residence of Corte della Maestà is part of the XIV century bishop’s palace and represents the continuation of the art collection that Paolo and Cristiana (the owners) have been building up for decades.
Corte della Maestà promotes the ancient art of “dolce far niente”, embracing the slowness of living, taking care of the soul, contemplating beauty and pausing the franticness of our daily lives for a moment. Here, experiences are not necessarily sought or created, but can be found in small details: the silence of the night when it is snowing outside, the lights and colors of the sunset and dawn, the cats that live in the village and that accompany the tourists on their walks along the alleyways.
White Deer San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge is a charming luxury cottage situated at 1,200 meters and overlooking the Badia, Pusteria and Aurina valleys. Its antique and curious history dates back to the sixteenth century, when the Bishop of Brixen built and owned it as a hunting lodge. One day, Giorgia and Stefano Barbini – the owners – fell in love with this aristocratic, old lodge and decided to transform it: from a dilapidated property into a stylish and exclusive holiday cottage. After years of loving care, the Barbinis managed to resurrect the old structure, which is protected as a historical monument, and transform it into a the little jewel that it is today.
Entering the cottage, you have the feeling of being at home, in an enveloping warm atmosphere. The scent of pine wood and lighted candles reaches and inebriates guests, plunging them in a relaxing and magical environment enriched by soft cushions, natural wood furnishings and decorative elements typical of the South Tyrolean tradition.
