Enter a hidden sanctuary, gracefully nestled in the heart of Venice. Palazzo Cristo, a masterful creation by Anna Covre and Frédéric Tubau de Cristo, offers an unparalleled retreat, providing a serene escape from the city's lively pace. Housed within a 15th-century building just steps from Piazza San Marco, this luxurious residence beautifully honors the timeless traditions of Venetian craftsmanship, seamlessly blending them with contemporary design influences.
Nestled in the heart of Venice lies Palazzo Cristo, a majestic project recently unveiled by Anna Covre and Frédéric Tubau de Cristo. Following the Palazzo Cristo-Castello, their first creation in Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo in 2018, the two owners and designers have opened a second prestigious palace: Palazzo Cristo-San Marco. Seven years ago, the couple embarked on a passionate restoration of a former 15th-century building, sharing the ambition of transforming it into a luxurious residence for travelers.
Just steps away from Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge, one can unexpectedly find out a world of unparalleled elegance, where architectural grandeur blends seamlessly with thoughtfully selected designs. Inside the palace, once said to be home to the famous Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, are now six spacious, light-filled suites overlooking a private garden of rare beauty. Guests are promised an unforgettable stay, being gently lulled by the sounds of gondoliers, all while immersed in a sophisticated setting. Behind the main entrance is a hidden haven of peace, unsuspected from the street, the ideal place to recharge away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Supported by the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and the region’s most talented artisans, Anna Covre and Frédéric Tubau set about restoring the historic building to its original splendor, breathing new, inspiring life into it. With extensive expertise in the luxury goods and design industries, Anna, born in Venice and Frédéric from Paris, envisioned Palazzo Cristo as the perfect blend of the authenticity of traditional Italian mansions and the elegance of great palais parisiens. The duo succeeded in combining their diverse backgrounds to create spaces of unrivaled refinement, where Venetian materials and contemporary influences come together in perfect harmony.
The designers’ deep commitment to craftsmanship, enriched by their professional experiences in Paris and Tokyo, enabled them to flawlessly capture the excellence of local artistry through meticulously curated design and décor choices, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere that envelops every corner. Rich textiles and fabrics from Rubelli, paired with a refined color palette inspired by the Serenissima’s hues of stone, white marble, oxidized copper green, antique powder pink, and terracotta, lend the interiors a cohesive and authentic aesthetic.
Every detail, from the natural oak and walnut finishes to the refined linen blankets, is part of a greater vision that reflects the essence of the lagoon while honoring its boundless heritage and beauty. Murano glass pieces were an inseparable part of this project. Renowned for its centuries-old tradition of mouth-blown glass, the island of Murano, with its unparalleled expertise admired worldwide, takes center stage at Palazzo Cristo, showcased through a bespoke collection of lamps, wall lights, and vases, each designed with care by Anna and Frédéric.
Palazzo Cristo-San Marco celebrates a refined sense of luxury, free from excess and extravagance. It offers guests an invitation into a serene sanctuary, where understated elegance sets the tone, and soft, natural light gently defines the spaces, creating an atmosphere of quiet sophistication. Here, every corner tells a story, offering a dreamy retreat in the heart of the splendid city of Venice, where past traditions and visionary ideas gracefully intertwine.
A timeless stay in one of the most beautiful palaces in Venice, from where you can hear the gondoliers singing on the Grand Canal.
