A thin thread binds past and future, versatility and elegance: the love of beauty that lives in every piece of Salda furniture.

SALDA

The story Salda wants to tell starts from a pencil mark on paper. For this is how its furniture is born: from an idea transmitted on a sheet of paper, and then on wood and precious materials through manual skills. The hand is the center of everything: it is the hands that draw, carve the wood, choose the fabrics, paint and create the finishes on our furniture. Hands carving wood, laying down gold leaf, drawing, painting, shaping and cutting, hands repeating gestures that are always similar, but create unique and different results. From the hands literally flows the story of Salda: from photograph to photograph, from drawing to drawing.

In a time when man increasingly turns to technology for all kinds of activities, creative activities included, SALDA wants to rediscover what is most surprising, contemporary and ingenious: the ancient wisdom of craftsmanship. Welcome to the world of AI, that doesn’t stand for Artificial Intelligence but Artisanal Intelligence.

A world made of ancient gestures repeated for centuries, handed down, reinterpreted and made modern but always faithful to their mission: the creation of unique, personal, unmistakable furniture.
SALDA production is not just about furniture, but it involves a quest for a link with the material and with the gesture of the demiurge who transforms it, with skills engraved in his own DNA.
We want to celebrate the authenticity of imperfection, but also the power of perfection: the human gesture, in fact, is also capable of creating flawless pieces.

Salda isn’t just the story of a company, it’s the story of a family: the Besana Family who made passion their raison d’ètre, quality a value, manufacturing expertise a true heritage to be preserved, shared and enriched over time with inventiveness and elegance.

Salda was founded at the beginning of the 19th century when Arcangelo Besana and his wife, who had been decorators for the royal family of Austria for some time, started up a craft business producing furniture and accessories for the great residences of the French nobility. In few years, Salda became one of the first furniture firms in Italian history and one of the biggest artisanal production factories.

For five generations creativity, accuracy and craftsmanship have been blended in Salda in order to enhance manual labor and bring forth unique and inimitable products.
Manufacturing skills go together with the creative research of new shapes, new models, new materials and new fit-out techniques, in order to preserve the original and natural style of Salda furniture, and above all, to create new trends.
The creation of each piece of furniture starts with authentic drawings which have been kept for generations in the factory and havebeen reinterpreted over the years.
The pursuit of originality leads all the implementation phases, from the choice of the materials to the bronze decorations and fit-out.
