Leone di Lucerna Sculpture
Description
This magnificent gypsum oeuvre is a bold and stately design for both contemporary and classic decors. It is a splendid reproduction of the Leone di Lucerna monument by Bertel Thorvaldsen that depicts a hurting lion, sculptured on a rock near the Swiss city of Lucerne, dedicated to the Swiss Guards of the King of France at the time of the French Revolution who died protecting the Tuileries Palace in Paris. The hurting lion symbolizes the courage of those slain in battle.
