Olga Frua

Textile Designer - Lombardia, Italy

“Ars Dormiendi” - Latin for “the art of sleeping” - encapsulates the vision of Olga Frua, an eponymous brand producing stylish yet timeless bedding and nightwear collections. In the early decades of the 20th century, a young Olga lived between Milan and Stresa, where she married Alberto Frua, a textile engineer and son of the founder of De Angeli Frua printing house. Her passion for ajour embroideries and primary colors from the trousseau tradition has inspired today’s luxe creations merging prized, natural textiles with antique artisan techniques.

Olga Frua lived in Italy between Milan and Stresa, on Lake Maggiore, in the early decades of the 20th century. Among her passions were linens, especially for the bedroom. In her handwritten lists and in the
trunks of her house by the lake, 'sheet sets', nightgowns, linen, cotton and silk dressing gowns, often hand-embroidered with ajour and ciphers, still evoke a refined elegance. Olga's personality inspires a contemporary nightstyle.
The Olga Frua collection is rooted in the excellence of Italian craftsmanship and updates it, combining handmade workmanship, typical of the trousseau tradition, suchas ajourembroidery, with contemporary style, sensitivity and technology.
The fabrics, of the highest quality and strictly made in Italy, are light, natural, comfortable, mixed in innovative compositions that offer unprecedented tactile and visual sensations. Not only linen, not only
cotton, but also cashmere and aboveall silk in satin and chiffon processing to make the garments even more refined and propitiate the best possible sleep.
