The elegant decoration that graces this set of six soup plates was designed in 1926 by Italian master Gio Ponti, then artistic director of Richard Ginori. The fine white porcelain of the background, enriched with a gold line running along the profile of each piece, is adorned with a minimalist pattern of rectangles joint together like links in a chain, as the name of the collection Catene (chains, in English) suggests. The name of the set comes from the sapphire color of the decoration. This elegant set can be combined with others in the same series for a refined effect.

Each artifact is handcrafted according to tradition; as a work in its own right, it is unique and unrepeatable. The production process requires time and patience, a relatively long time that moves awayfrom the industrial logic of "fast" and "repetitive."
The choice of raw materials is intrinsically linked to the landscape and its traditions. Elisa and Roberto, the founders of Picta, love the natural feel of Wood and Earth, which they try to preserve as much as possible, minimizing the use of glazes and paints to celebrate its organic textures. The two artists select each wood plank with care and responsibility, favoring Walnut from fallen or responsibly cut trees. They use onlystoneware mixtures fired at high temperatures of between 1150°C and 1250°C. Such firing causes a principle of vitrification that allows us to obtain ceramic objects that are that are waterproof, highly resistant and therefore durable.
