Combining the multifaceted craftsmanship typical of Venice: this was the initial idea of Luciano Gambaro behind L’ombra della Forcola, a project based on the unusual contamination between the art of Murano glass, interpreted by the master Matteo Tagliapietra, and the art of remèr, represented by the master Piero Dri. Together with the oar, the forcola is the “command bridge” of the gondola, as well as of all the traditional rowing boats that silently navigate the lagoon and canals of Venice.

Discovering the Artisan
Gambaro e Tagliapietra
Veneto, Italy | Glassmith
Matteo Tagliapietra began as a young apprentice at the esteemed Gambaro & Poggi glass workshop in Murano, under the expert guidance of master Mario Gambaro. He soon proved his talent and became a "master" at the age of 21. In 2015 Matteo started, together with Luciano Gambaro, the new company Gambaro & Tagliapietra. From here begins a new journey, a stimulating project aimed at establishing him as an undisputed master glassmaker, but at the same time a promoter and inspirer, together with Luciano Gambaro, of lines, styles, and contamination to make the millenary art of Murano glass flourish and innovate.Discover more
