Caroline’s approach to design speaks to her love of the arts and her intuitive business sense. Her interiors are characterized by rich color palettes; thoughtful, collected furnishings and art; bold patterns and textures, a mix of time periods and a strong emphasis on ethically sourced materials.

What is your ritual to get yourself into the holiday spirit?

Every year before thanksgiving I decorate the house for the holidays. The kids each have a little tree in their rooms, and we have a formal tree and then a kid’s tree in the family room which is pink and full of candy ornaments. We are a mixed faith home, so the holidays are always busy with Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and then Christmas.

What is your most cherished holiday tradition?

I love all the holiday traditions. From the local tree lighting in palm beach to lighting the candles over Hanukkah. Of them all, my favorite is the service work we do around that time of year with our children. We volunteer in various ways but the most fun is when we adopt a family or two and get to go Christmas shopping for them as well.

How will your holiday tabletop look this year?

I love having fun with table decor. I haven’t picked the vibe yet, but I am thinking a whimsical sea creature theme.

What do you look for when picking the perfect gift?

I agonize over presents. I always try and think about the person’s interests and what they would enjoy. But often I end up buying people things they would never buy for themselves. Something totally impractical but absolutely unusual and stunning. If I can’t find the perfect gift, I always resort to great books.
