Fashion Icons on Artemest

To celebrate fashion month, Artemest presents a selection of iconic fashion designers who turned their hand to interior design. From Antonio Marras to Missoni, Etro and Kenzo, discover their signature touch and unique approach to the world of Italian craftsmanship.

ETRO Home Interiors

A pillar of Italian fashion history, Etro's origins date back to 1968 in Milan, gaining immediate recognition for its refined quality and signature prints. The characteristic Paisley pattern was introduced in 1981 in a myriad forms and color variations, a red thread linking through the fashion house's collections for over 50 years.

In 2017, Etro and the Italian interior design studio Jumbo Group partnered together to launch ETRO Home Interiors, consolidating the brand’s commitment to the world of design. The collection embodies a perfect combination of classic references, experimental elements and contemporary design. Between exotic atmospheres and inspirations from distant lands, Etro's interiors line expresses the power of symbolic language through the masterful use of fabrics and the Etro symbol par excellence, the paisley.

A sublime instance of Made in Italy craftsmanship, Etro began as and remains a family company.

MissoniHome

Missoni is a symbol of Italian luxury in itself: its distinctive style lies in the highest quality craftsmanship, an inherent sense of glamour and the iconic zigzag patterns. Missoni was founded in the 1950s by Ottavio Missoni and his wife Rosita just outside of Milan. They went from strength to strength thanks to their signature knits in a rainbow of colors, and the brand has continued as a typical Italian family affair ever since.

Today, Rosita Missoni remains the creative mind behind MissoniHome. The brand's distinctive lurex knits, multi-colored zigzag patterns and playful color palettes bring as much a sense of joie de vivre to interior design as to fashion. Missoni is ushering in an unmistakable way of dressing and living with a colorful mix of zigzag motifs, stripes, waves and a patchwork of geometric and floral suggestions.

Casa Marras

Already renowned as a fashion designer, Antonio Marras is the founder of Casa Marras, a creative project born in collaboration with the historic Apulian ceramist Fratelli Colì. Ever since debuting his first clothing collection in 1987, Marras made a name for himself and has been sought after for his experimentation and creative rebellion.

His collection of hand-painted ceramics includes plates, bowls, jars, vases and many other everyday tabletop pieces entirely handmade with an unconventional design. Each piece has a unique personality, an ancient charm that gracefully elevates objects of everyday life giving them an eclectic allure, the same one can find on a Marras runway.

K3

Cross-cultural influences converge in the work of renowned fashion designer Kenzo Takada, who founded K3, his lifestyle and homeware brand. K3 debuted in 2020 with a curated 300-piece collection by Italian and Japanese artisans embodying three themes reflected in three color combinations: Shogun (black, white, and gold), Maiko (rosy hues from kimonos and geisha make-up), and Sakura (spring flowers). For Takada, design is about the harmony conferred through colors and patterns inspired by Eastern and Western aesthetics with a modern twist.

Kenzo Takada was a worldwide famous fashion icon who, for half a century, has been infusing positive energy and contagious freedom by claiming a polychrome, daring and borderless fashion that celebrates nature and cultural diversity. Founded in 1970, the Kenzo fashion house continues to carry the characteristics that make it unique into contemporary times: an exuberant and sophisticated creativity imbued with optimism and eclecticism.
