Charlap Hyman & Herrero is an architecture and design firm founded in 2014, with studios in New York, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Led by principals Adam Charlap Hyman and Andre Herrero, the practice works across architecture, interiors, furniture, and textiles, considering the built environment at every scale.
The studio has designed retail spaces for Aesop and Moda Operandi, theatrical sets for the Santa Fe Opera and the Juilliard School, and has developed textiles and rugs with F. Schumacher & Co, alongside independent lighting and furniture collections. Their residential work ranges from ground-up architecture to sensitive restorations, often engaging with historical legacies.

In many ways, we see our role as being the guardian of our clients’ tastes - we have to understand the value of the things we choose in all its complexity. Part of the equation by which we can assess value is through an understanding of the quality of the craftsmanship that has gone into making a given object. It is a joy to work with things that have been made beautifully, which constitutes different methods and means depending on the object.
