Barbagia Carpet - Main view

The Barbagia collection has been designed by Serena Confalonieri and produced by Tessile M&Dusa during the designer's residency in Samugheo, Sardinia, on the occasion of ArtiJanus/ArtiJanas, a sperimental project promoted by the Sardinia region and Triennale Milano to stimulate the intersection between young designers and local craftsmen. The Barbagia collection consists of a series of textile elements in cotton, from pillows to rugs and carpets, made with a technique called "a pibiones", which is typical of the region. The decorative motifs recall the Sardinian heritage: nuragic bronze statuettes, myrtle plants and terracotta jugs. All the objects part of the Barbagia collection follow the weaving pattern of the Sardinian "bisaccia", which is a fabric bag used by shepherds and farmers when going to pasture. The initials of the designer and the weaver have been embroidered at the four angles of every object part of the collection.

Paola C.'s vision goes beyond the idea of formal design and proposes a dimension of elegance that is out of time and out of fashion

The company chooses to emphasise tradition and authenticity, preferring high quality natural materials, worked with craftsmanship techniques handed down over time. Paola C believes that innovation does not always lie in the use of new materials, but in the ability to reinterpret and perfect what nature has to offer. Each product tells a story of craftsmanship and passion, in which the simplicity and purity of natural materials blend with the excellence of manual workmanship to create unique and timeless objects.

Paola C does not produce technological objects or objects requiring complex industrial processes, but handmade objects.

Each object is the result of an encounter and a journey, ideal, design and practical, between people, tools and materials.

Gradually, along the way, various subjects come into play to give life, almost magically, to new things.
