Ottantotto Firenze is an historic building located in the heart of the Oltrarno district in Florence. During the Renaissance, it was the workshop and home of a baker: in the ground floor were placed the ovens where the bread was baked and the shop for direct sale on the road.
In the following centuries, this historic building was transformed into an aristocratic home with an exquisite, little garden on the back. From the ancient architectural structure, it is still possible to admire elements in "pietra serena", a typical Tuscan stone used in Florentine palazzos, such as staircases, fireplaces, sinks and niches.
In the eighteen century, the property became part of the Saint Elisabeth Monastery, becoming a safe place where orphans children were welcomed and looked after untile the post-war period.

Today, after a recent renovation, the building was transformed in a beautiful and unique Boutique Hotel with garden. There are seven rooms distributed over four floors, one of which is a Suite with terrace and kitchenette. Each room has been given a specific character that distinguishes it from the others, yet all share a care in the details, creating cozy spaces, marked by timelessness and unique atmospheres.

Antique materials and contemporary furniture will accompany in the discovery of this intimate place, characterized by warm lights and a welcoming atmosphere. The living room on the ground floor is cozy and elegant, and it directly looks into the garden: this room can be used for reading and relaxing next to the large fireplace or on the sofa, writing on the central table or relaxing.
All rooms can be accessed via an elevator or by an ancient staircase made out of “pietra serena”; each room is different and tells different stories and concepts, always offering a unique experience to both new and old visitors.

In a stone-paved courtyard facing the living room breakfast will be served under a canopy, heated in winter. Going up a few steps will give you access to the small, shaded and flowered garden: after many years in which it has been abandoned, this relaxing spot has been given a new life with plants, essences and flowers, which recreate the atmosphere of a late nineteenth century shaded scenario and where guests can restore themselves with a good book.
