Corten Designs

​Corten steel embodies an actual material paradox, but this is precisely what makes it so interesting and rousing. Its main feature is an excellent corrosion resistance from atmospheric agents, since its natural oxidation slowly stops over time, forming a protective patina which is the most characteristic element of this material.

This kind of steel was first mentioned in 1933, the year in which it was patented by the United States Steel Corporation. The oxidized chromatic tone that naturally occurs on the surface appears warm and intense and offers many aesthetic solutions in relation to the unusual "elegance of rust", which underlines the feeling of “lived-in” given by the signs of time.
