Mila Maurizi

Accessories Maker - Marche, Italy

The eponymous Mila Maurizi brand is rooted in over 80 years of family history and passion in hand-weaving reeds, starting with her grandfather Luigi Maurizi who crafted wicker baskets in the 1940s. Based in the heart of Mogliano, le Marche, their home décor wicker collections are minutely hand-woven by skilled artisans, whose stories and expertise can be almost heard by touching the intricate wefts. With a constant eye on the latest trends, these creations will add a comforting yet evocative accent to hospitality contexts, rustic-chic homes, or exclusive yachts.

Yesterday's knowledge with today's hands

Mila Maurizi, a young entrepreneur, carries on her family's long history of craftsmanship with passion and expertise. In 1973, in fact, her father Giuseppe, one of the few surviving master weavers, took over the wicker basket-making company founded by her grandfather Luigi. In the course of time, the woven items lost their purely practical properties and turned into valuable design artifacts.

The company is located in the heart of the Mogliano twining district, in the center of the Marche region; an area rich in high-level manufacturing companies. An ancient art, that of twining, which thanks to the collaboration of some local entrepreneurs has the possibility to continue to exist. For some years there has been the Carteca school of twining, an association of master craftsmen committed to passing on their valuable knowledge. Most of the twining artisans working at Mila Maurizi are young people trained by the Carteca school and work under Peppe's watchful eye.

Mila Maurizi designs and produces furniture and accessories in natural materials, 100% made in Italy, of the highest quality. Each item is produced by hand and thus becomes unique and precious. Particular attention is paid to the use of materials, natural and treated with eco-friendly dyes. Wicker and wicker are woven in the workshop. The process requires no glues, and the joinery department has a wide range of fine woods.

Refinement, care and precision in detail are the ingredients that the company puts into each of its pieces. Mila Maurizi has a long history of meetings and collaborations with the most important national and international companies in the design sector behind it, so an ancient and complex knowledge such as twining still manages to offer cutting-edge proposals.

Inside the company, in addition to the twining workshop, there is an upholstery department, a carpentry workshop, and a painting and finishing area. The entire facility also allows the creation of customized and unique solutions. Mila Maurizi is also capable of custom interior design work, as well as hand-woven furniture and accessories. The company also has a network of trusted suppliers that allows it to accompany clients from the selection of the most appropriate raw material to the finishing of the required object.
